Donald Trump on Greenland: “We have to have it”

Yet another claim from the pig of the United States. Also know as “President”.

US President Donald Trump reiterates his desire to take control of the Danish island of Greenland.

– We need it for security reasons, he says.

– We have to have it. And he wanted to lead the push, the US president continues.

By “he” is meant Jeff Landry, Louisiana’s very conservative governor, whom Trump appointed as special envoy to Greenland on Monday.

The president describes Landry as a guy who “makes deals” and who can realize his vision of taking control of Greenland.

– When you look up and down the coast, there are Russian and Chinese ships everywhere, Trump said of Greenland when he met with reporters at a press conference at the Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida on Monday.

Trump: Not because of the island’s resources

The president claims that his ambition to take over Greenland is not because of the area’s rich energy and mineral resources – as the US has “amassed a lot of resources” – but rather that he believes that Denmark has not spent enough money on protecting the island.

– Denmark has not spent any money. They have no military protection, Trump claims.

– They say that Denmark was there 300 years ago or so, with a boat. Well, we were there with boats too, I’m sure. So we’ll have to work it out.

President Trump has previously stated on several occasions that the US should take over the island for security reasons. He has also stated that he does not rule out taking over Greenland by military force.

US ambassador to Denmark recalled

In June this year, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that the country is prepared to invest more in Greenland. This is primarily about investments in the island’s defense and security. At the same time, she said that Greenland has requested greater autonomy in foreign policy matters and that Denmark is ready to give it to the island.

Jeff Landry has signed an X that it would be an honor to “make Greenland part of the United States”.

The appointment has aroused strong anger among Danish leaders and the US ambassador has been summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Copenhagen.

Landry’s duties as envoy unclear

Neither Trump nor the White House have explained why Landry was appointed special envoy to Greenland. Landry’s duties in the new role have not been specified either.

US leaders have historically appointed special envoys to handle difficult negotiations and crisis situations. Currently, there is a special envoy for Ukraine, Russia and the Middle East.

Greenland, with approximately 56,000 inhabitants, is an autonomous part of Denmark with extensive autonomy. However, this autonomy does not include foreign and security policy, nor currency policy.

This is from a guy who promised to end the Russian Ukraine invasion in less than 48 hours. The guy who claims to have ended 10 wars… Which none is true.
